Blood Tests, Chest X-Rays and X-Ray / Ultrasounds

Blood Tests

There are a number of blood clinics available at the Health Centre throughout the week. All are to be booked in advance. With any blood test it is imperative that patients drink plenty of water prior to the blood test.

Monday Evenings – These are late evening appointments available for both hospital and GP requests. These can be booked by phoning 01772 777430. It is important to bring your blood form along with you to the appointment otherwise the test cannot be carried out.

Friday Mornings – This blood clinic is run between 8.30 – 12.00 every Friday and is for our own GP requests only. These appointments can be booked by phoning our reception team on 01257 442600.

Sunday Mornings – These are weekend appointments available for both hospital and GP requests. These can be booked by phoning 01772 777430. It is important to bring your blood form along with you to the appointment otherwise the test cannot be carried out.

In some circumstances our Practice Nurse can carry out some blood tests. If your appointment is with our Practice Nurse please ensure you check-in at reception.

Blood test results can take anything from a few hours to a couple of weeks to report depending upon the test.

Chest X-Rays

If the Doctor or ANP wants you to have a chest x-ray they make an electronic referral to Chorley Hospital whilst you are in the consultation room with them. You can then go straight to Chorley Hospital X-Ray department Monday – Friday between 9am and 7pm for the chest x-ray to be performed.

X-Ray and Ultrasounds

X-Ray and Ultrasound reports usually take approximately 2 weeks to be reported and the electronic result sent to the GP. If you have booked an appointment specifically to discuss the results it is sensible to contact us the day before your appointment to check the report has been received.

If you have a mobile number please make sure this is up-to-date so we can send you notification of the result.

If you have been advised to make an appointment to discuss the result of an investigation please make an appointment with the Doctor or ANP who requested the test for you.
